About

The Green Choice Program Procurement

The Green Choice Program is a green power offering developed through collaborative innovation between the Province, suppliers, the utility, and large energy buyer. It will allow participating customers to purchase up to 100% of their electricity use from local renewable energy sources.

The suppliers of renewable electricity for the Green Choice Program are competitively procured by an independent Procurement Administrator appointed by the province of Nova Scotia, with the first competitive RFP under the Green Choice Program launched in 2023.

The first Green Choice RFP secured 880 GWh (262 MW) of the targeted 1,500 GWh annual renewable electricity supply through 25-year power purchase agreements with independent power producers.

Nova Scotia is now seeking an additional 1,200 GWh (350 MW) of annual renewable electricity supply under the Green Choice Program through a second competitive RFP process. This new renewable electricity supply must be in-service by the end of 2030.

Role of Power Advisory

The Province of Nova Scotia has appointed Power Advisory LLC as the Procurement Administrator for the Green Choice Program to design and lead the second competitive RFP process.
